Ryan O'Neal

Charles Patrick Ryan O'Neal ( born April 20, 1941 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor. In the 1970s, O'Neal was one of the most successful stars and gained in the film Love Story special celebrity.

Life and work

O'Neal is the oldest son of the writer Charles " Blackie " O'Neal and his wife, the actress Patricia Callaghan. The family often changed his residence, and the Americans grew up among others in Mexico, England and Germany. After visiting the Los Angeles University High School O'Neal led a nomadic life on the beaches of California and earned his money through odd jobs as beach guards or amateur boxer.

When his parents in Munich on the American television series Tales of the Vikings (1959 ) work, he was hired as an extra and stuntman. Back in the United States O'Neal came from the early 1960s in several television series in appearance and was his starring role in the soap opera Peyton Place ( 1964-1966 ) known to a wide audience. In 1969 he was nominated for an Oscar as best actor for his performance in the melodrama Love Story (1970 ) on the side of Ali MacGraw. He achieved fame by the part of Moses Pray in Peter Bogdanovich's Paper Moon, in which his daughter Tatum O'Neal occurred.

In the 1970s, Ryan O'Neal was considered one of the great movie stars of the dream factory. With films such as Walter Hill's Driver or Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon, he cemented his reputation in Hollywood. However, in the early 1980s became his career to a halt. After a few flops, he got no more cinema offers and instead worked in a number of television films. In 2001 he was diagnosed with leukemia.

In 1963, Ryan O'Neal married actress Joanna Moore. The marriage ended in divorce in 1967. In the same year he married Leigh Taylor - Young. The divorce took place in 1973. Between 1980 and 1997 he led a relationship with Farrah Fawcett. Some years later, in the course of leukemia of O'Neal, the two came closer again. The couple had announced their wedding on June 22, 2009. Fawcett died but now three days later.

He has four children: Tatum O'Neal and Griffin O'Neal ( with Moore ), Patrick O'Neal ( with Taylor - Young) and Redmond O'Neal ( with Fawcett ).

One of his German voice acting is the German actor Elmar Wepper.
