The Saalfeld (Saale ) Bahnhof ( by Deutsche Bahn as Saalfeld (Saale ) or Saalfeld (S ) referred to ) is the town of Saalfeld station in the southeast of Thuringia. He's ICE stop the line between Berlin and Munich, is the railway station Category 3 at.

History

The railway reached Saalfeld on 20 December 1871 when the railway line Gera -Saalfeld from northeast. At that time the station was created. It was planned from the outset as a railway junction and got the then undeveloped land east of the Saale River, opposite the Old Town, as a generous operating space. In 1874 the railway hall of Naumburg on Jena was taken to Saalfeld in operation. Thus, the city got another rail connection to the northeast. Other routes to Saalfeld were commissioned in 1895 by Erfurt, 1900 by Katzhütte / King 's Lake, 1907 and 1913 yard of Sonneberg. During the Second World War, the strategically important railway station was destroyed in air raids, according to the division of Germany fell from its importance as the traffic between East Germany and Bavaria declined. The station building was renovated and expanded with a new building.
