Saga Prefecture

The Saga Prefecture (Japanese佐贺 県Saga - ken) is a prefecture in Japan. It is located in the region of Kyushu on the eponymous island arose from the eastern part of the historical province of Hizen.

Seat of the prefectural government is the city of Saga.

Geography

The Saga Prefecture is located between the prefectures Fukuoka and Nagasaki in the east to the south and southwest.

In the third term governor of Saga is Yasushi Furukawa, who was supported in his first election in 2003 of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP ). He was last confirmed in the regional elections in April 2011 against only one communist opposition candidates in office. Also at the uniform regional elections, the 38 -member parliament was elected, the LDP remained with 27 seats by far the strongest force. The only woman in Parliament, the Communist Akemi Muto.

In the national parliament Saga is by three directly elected deputies in Shūgiin and represent a choice depending on Sangiin. All three Shūgiinwahlkreise Sagas went in 2012 to the LDP, in Sangiin sit for the prefecture after the elections of 2010 and 2013, two Liberal Democrats.

Saga is one of the financially weaker prefectures of the country.
