Å ahy

Šahy (up to 1927 Slovak " Ipolské Šiahy " or " Ipeľské Šahy "; German very rare Eipelschlag, Hungarian Ipolyság - also Ság ) is a city in southern Slovakia.

It was first mentioned in 1237 and divided into the following districts:

  • Preseľany nad Iplom (1980 incorporated )
  • Šahy
  • Tešmák (1986 incorporated )

Until 1918, the town belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. By the First Vienna Award she came from 1938 to 1945 for a short time again to Hungary.
