Saint-Barthélemy-de-Bussière

Saint- Barthélemy- de - Bussière, Occitan Sent Bartomiu de Bussiera, is a commune with 232 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Dordogne in the Aquitaine region. It belongs to the district Nontron and Canton Bussière- Badil. The area of the municipality is also part of the Périgord -Limousin Regional Natural Park.

Etymology

The Occitan word Bussiera, French Bussière is derived from buis with the meaning beech trees. Sent Bartomiu or Saint- Barthelemy, derived from the Latin Sanctus Bartholomaeus, is the Holy Bartholomew.

Geography

Geology

History
