Saint-Germain-la-Chambotte
Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.
Geography
Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte is located on 480 m above sea level. M., near Aix -les- Bains, about 23 km north of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the western Albanais, in a broad basin of Albenche, on Nordostfuß of Mont de Corsuet, which separates the Albanais from Lake Bourget.
The area of 9.64 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Albanais. The central part is occupied by the wide valley of Saint- Germain. It is drained by the Albenche east to Deisse. East of the valley basin reaches the community area on the adjacent Molassehügelland (up to 687 m above sea level. M. ). In the West, the well is from the ridge of the Mont Laval ( 848 m above sea level with. M. the highest elevation of Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte ) and Mont de Corsuet ( 835 m above sea level. M. ) flanked. Geologic forms the crest of the anticline, the southern continuation of the Montagne du Gros Foug. Is the pass of La Chambotte (630 m above sea level. M. ) Between the two mentioned mountain ranges. West of the ridge falls the slope ( partially dotted with rock formations ) very steeply to the Lac du Bourget from. Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte has a 2 km long section on the eastern shore.
At Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte addition to the actual center also includes several hamlets settlements and farmsteads, including:
- Mont Durand (560 m above sea level. M. ) on the east slope of the valley basin of Saint- Germain
- Laval (560 m above sea level. M. ) north on the slope of the valley basin of Saint- Germain
- La Chambotte (630 m above sea level. M. ) on the pass, between Saint- Germain and the Lac du Bourget
Neighboring municipalities of Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte are Cessens in the north, Albens to the east, La Biolle and Brison -Saint- Innocent in the south and Saint- Pierre -de- Curtille and Chindrieux in the West.
History
In the Middle Ages, Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte was the property of the lords of Montfalcon. The parish was the priory of Saint- Innocent dependent. In 1936, the Municipality of Saint- Germain in Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte has been renamed.
Attractions
The parish church of Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte was built in the 19th century. The Belvédère La Chambotte was built in 1882 and visited in 1887 by Queen Victoria. From La Chambotte offers a nice view of the Lac du Bourget.
Population
With 444 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. After the population was declining in the first half of the 20th century, a significant population increase has been recorded since the mid- 1980s again.
Economy and infrastructure
Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte in the wine region of Savoie. White wines from the grape Altesse ( locally called roussette ) may be marketed under the protected designation of origin roussette de Savoie. For white wines, red wines and other grape varieties, the AOC Vin de Savoie applies.
In addition, there are now several companies of local small businesses. Meanwhile, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area as well as in space Chambéry and Annecy their work.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from La Biolle via La Chambotte after Chindrieux. Another road connection with Rumilly. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 10 km.
