Sal Mosca

Salvatore Joseph " Sal" Mosca (* April 27, 1927 in Mount Vernon, NY, † July 28, 2007 in White Plains ) was an American jazz pianist of cool jazz.

Sal Mosca studied with Lennie Tristano and at the New York College of Music. He began in 1949 to work with Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh. His heavily influenced by Tristano playing can be heard on many Konitz plates of the 1950s. Otherwise, it was mostly as a freelance musician working, but also played with Saxie Dowell in 1947 and 1959 had their own duo. For most of his career he taught and was relatively inactive since 1992 with regard to performances and recordings; However, in 2004 and 2005 published two recent CDs.
