The Salmon River ( [ sæmən ɹɪvɚ ], literally "Salmon River ") is a river that flows for a distance of 684 km through central Idaho.

He is also referred to as the " River of No Return ".

The Salmon River has its sources in the Sawtooth Mountains and the Lemhi Range. It flows northeast through the Custer County, north through Lemhi County and then in a westerly direction through the Idaho County to its confluence with the Snake River ( Oregon border ). The middle section of the Salmon River is one of the most beautiful areas for whitewater kayaking and rafting.

The Middle Fork Salmon River is a 166 km long left tributary of the Salmon River. He is also honored as a National Wild and Scenic River. With the exception of 1 mile near the Dagger Falls Boundary Creek Road the complete flow path is rated as " wild".
