Idaho County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The county seat is Grangeville. The Idaho County is the largest area of ​​Idaho County.

Geography

The County is located in the central northwestern Idaho and covers an area of ​​22,021 square kilometers; of which 46 square kilometers of water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clearwater County, Montana Missoula County and Ravalli to the County, Lemhi County, Valley County, Adams County, Oregon Wallowa to the County, Nez Perce County and Lewis County.

History

The Idaho County was formed in 1861 as part of the Washington Territory. On February 4, 1864 was established by the new legislative management of the Idaho Territory by reorganizing the Idaho County. From 1864 to 1875 was the site of Florence administrative center of the county, from 1875 to 1902 it was Mount Idaho, from 1902 then Grangeville. The Idaho County was named after a steamship named " Idaho ," which sailed the Columbia River.
