Kootenai County, Idaho

Kootenai County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Coeur d' Alene.

Geography

The County is located in the north- west of Idaho, on the west by Washington and has an area of ​​3408 square kilometers, of which 183 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Bonner County, Shoshone County and Benewah County.

History

Kootenai County was formed on December 22, 1864 from parts of Nez Perce County. It was named after the Indian tribe of the Kutenai, as it is located in the traditional settlement area of the trunk.
