Payette County, Idaho
Payette County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Payette.
Geography
The County is located in western Idaho, adjacent to Oregon and has an area of 1062 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Washington County, Gem County and Canyon County. The south of the county lies in the Ebeen the Snake River Plain.
History
Payette County was formed on February 28, 1917 from parts of Canyon County. It was named after the Payette River.
Demographic data
According to the census of 2000, there were 20,578 people in Payette County. Of these, 117 people were living in collective centers, the other residents living in 7,371 households and 5,572 families. The population density was 20 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 90.25 percent White, 0.87 percent Native American, 0.85 percent Asian, 0.10 percent African American, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 5.57 percent from other races groups; 2.33 percent are descended from two or more races. 11.92 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 7,371 households out of which 37.7 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.0 percent were married couples living together. 9.3 percent were single mothers and 24.4 percent were non-families. 20.6 percent of all households and 9.5 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.21.
30.6 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 7.9 percent 18-24 Years, 26.6 percent between 25 and 44, 21.7 percent between 45 and 64 years. 13.2 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over 94.8 males.
The median income of households was 33,046 U.S. dollars, and the median income for a family $ 37,430. Males have a median income of $ 30,641, women $ 21,421. The per capita income was $ 14,924. 9.7 percent of families and 13.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
