Bingham County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Blackfoot.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Idaho, is in the east 50 km away from Wyoming and has an area of ​​5491 square kilometers, of which 66 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Jefferson County, Bonneville County, Caribou County, Bannock County, Power County, Blaine County and Butte County. The east of the county is part of the Basin and Range region, the west is in the Snake River Plain.

History

Bingham County was formed on January 13, 1885 from parts of Oneida County. It was named from Pennsylvania, a member of the Congress of the United States by Henry Harrison Bingham.
