Benewah County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) St. Maries.

Geography

The County is located in the north- west of Idaho, on the west by Washington and has an area of ​​2030 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Kootenai County, Shoshone County, Latah County and Whitman County and Spokane County in Washington.

History

Benewah County was formed on January 23, 1915 from parts of Kootenai County. It was named after a chief of the Coeur d' Alene.
