Cassia County, Idaho
Cassia County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Burley.
Geography
The County is located in southern Idaho, adjacent to both Utah and Nevada to and has an area of 6683 square kilometers, of which 36 square kilometers are water surface. The deepest point in the County is the Milner Lake, a reservoir on the Snake River in 1204 m and the highest peak on cache with 3110 m above sea level. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Minidoka County, Blaine County, Power County, Oneida County, Twin Falls County and Jerome County. It lies mostly in the Basin and Range region, the north on the Snake River projected into the plane of the Snake River Plain.
History
Cassia County was formed on February 20, 1879 from parts of Oneida County. It was named after the Cassia Creek, a small river nearby.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Cassia County 21 416 people in 7,060 households and 5,485 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 84.69 percent White, 0.17 percent African American, 0.80 percent Native American, 0.37 percent Asian, 0.05 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 12.06 percent from other races groups; 1.87 percent were descended from two or more races. 18.74 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 7,060 households out of which 42.4 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 65.2 percent were married couples living together. 8.8 percent were single mothers and 22.3 percent were non-families. 19.5 percent of all households and 9.5 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average family size was 3.46 persons.
34.1 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 9.0 percent 18-24 Years, 24.5 percent between 25 and 44, 19.6 percent between 45 and 64 years. 12.7 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 101.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over 98.7 males.
The median household income was $ 33,322, and the median income for a family $ 38,162. Males have a median income of $ 29,132, women $ 19,851. The per capita income was $ 14,087. 11.1 percent of families and 13.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
