Elmore County (Idaho)

Elmore County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mountain Home.

Geography

The County is located in the central southwestern Idaho and has an area of ​​8030 square kilometers, of which 59 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Boise County, Ada County, Owyhee County, Twin Falls County, Gooding County, Camas County and Blaine County. The south of the county belongs to the plane of the Snake River Plain.

History

Elmore County was formed on February 7, 1889 from parts of Ada County and the defunct Alturas County. It was named after the former Ida Elmore mines, the largest silver and gold mines in the area.
