Canyon County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Caldwell.

Geography

The County is located in southwest Idaho, on the west by Oregon and has an area of ​​1563 square kilometers, of which 36 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Payette County, Gem County, Ada County and Owyhee County. It lies entirely in the plane of the Snake River Plain.

History

Canyon County was formed on March 7, 1891 parts of Ada County. Early immigrants moved towards the west coast by this County as the Oregon Trail conducted here.
