Lemhi County, Idaho

Lemhi County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Salmon.

Geography

The County is located in north-central Idaho, bordering both the North and in the northeast on Montana and has an area of ​​11,835 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Idaho County, Valley County, Custer County, Butte County and Clark County.

History

Lemhi County was formed on January 9, 1869 from parts of Idaho County. It was named after Fort Lemhi, which was named after a character from the Book of Mormon.
