Jefferson County (Idaho)

Jefferson County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Rigby.

Geography

The County is located in east-central Idaho, is in the north about 60 km from Montana, on the east about 70 km from Wyoming and has an area of ​​2863 square kilometers, of which 27 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clark County, Fremont County, Madison County, Bonneville County, Bingham County and Butte County. It lies entirely in the plane of the Snake River Plain.

History

Jefferson County was formed on February 18, 1913 from parts of Fremont County. It was named after the U.S. President Thomas Jefferson.
