Clearwater County (Idaho)

Clearwater County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Orofino.

Geography

The County is located in the northwest of Idaho, adjacent to the northeast Montana and has an area of ​​6444 square kilometers, of which 69 square kilometers are water surface. About six kilometers northwest of Orofino is the Dworshak Dam. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Shoshone County, Latah County, Nez Perce County, Lewis County and Idaho County.

History

Clearwater County was formed on February 27, 1911 from parts of Nez Perce County. It was named after the nearby Clearwater River.

Demographic data
