Butte County (Idaho)
Butte County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Arco.
Geography
The County is located just southeast of the geographical Tentrums of Idaho and has an area of 5785 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clark County, Jefferson County, Bingham County, Blaine County, Lemhi County and Custer County. The north of the county is part of the Basin and Range region, the south is in the Snake River Plain. The County is a part of the Craters of the Moon National Monument. It is named after five rhyolitic Lavadomen, the largest of the Big Southern Butte is.
History
Butte County was formed on February 6, 1917 from parts of Bingham County.
Demographic data
According to the census of 2000, there were 2,899 people in Butte County in 1089 households and 802 families. The population density was 1 person / km ². The racial the population was made up of 94.65 percent White, 0.28 percent African American, 0.69 percent Native American, 0.24 percent Asian, 2.38 percent from other races; 1.76 percent were descended from two or more races. 4.14 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,089 households out of which 32.8 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 63.2 percent were married couples living together. 7.4 percent were single mothers and 26.3 percent were non-families. 23.6 percent of all households and 10.9 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.14.
29.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 6.3 percent 18-24 Years, 24.0 percent between 25 and 44, 25.7 percent between 45 and 64 years. 14.9 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 101.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 99.3 males.
The median household income was $ 30,473, and the median income for a family $ 36,950. Males had a median income of $ 37,750, women $ 20,962. The per capita income was $ 14,948. 14.7 percent of families and 18.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
