Salo Weisselberger

Salo Edler von Weisselberger, also Weiszelberger or Aislberger, (* 1867 in Draczinetz ( Drăcineţ ) at Kotzman ( Cozmeni ), Bukovina, † March 15 1931 in Vienna ) was a doctor of law, k u k and Romanian politician who Richter, head of the Jewish community, Member of parliament and Mayor of Bukovina Chernivtsi ( Cernăuţi ), member of the Romanian Senate nachmalig and then the House of Representatives.

Biography

The son of the landowner Joel Weisselberger and Jenta Rosenzweig studied law at the University of Chernivtsi. Due to its excellent examination results, he became in 1892 judge of the Regional Trial Court of the Imperial Railroad.

Between 1911 and 1914 he was elected as representatives of the " National People's Party ", whose chairman Benno shrubs was, in the parliament Bukovina.

After he had already been Deputy Mayor of Czernowitz several years, he was in 1913 elected mayor of the city. When the Imperial Russian Army occupied the capital of the Habsburg crown land, he handed them properly remained in the short term in office, but was only a few weeks later - after the onset of a civil governor - along with other notables such as Nicu Flondor, Mayer Ebner, Phillip Menczel and Eduard Bibring, deported to Siberia, from where he returned as part of a prisoner exchange after 14 months.

After the collapse of the monarchy and the connection of Bukovina to the Kingdom of Romania, he was " (PNL ) Partidul Naţional Liberal " elected on March 17, 1922 for four years for a member of the Senate, after two years in the House of Representatives. During the constitutional debate he had argued vehemently for the naturalization of all and not just the " Altjuden " to Romania. The goals of the party were achieved in 1923 with the support of Alexandru Averescu.

Gravely ill, he died in a sanatorium in Vienna and buried there. He was a professing Jew to the Germans as his predecessor in the office of mayor of Chernivtsi Edward Reiss.
