Stretch

Saltsjöbanan consists of two routes. One leads from Slussen on Igelboda after Saltsjöbaden. In Igelboda the second path branches off to the Solsidan. In Slussen is following the Stockholm Metro ( Tunnelbanan ).

Rolling stock

On the Saltsjöbana uniform electric double railcars are used that have been converted from the subway car. They received pantograph and lateral profile compensation boards for reducing the gap between vehicle and platform. In addition, the middle door opening was sealed each carriage. On the way to Saltsjöbaden ( four-car trains so ) usually come two coupled units are used. On the connection train to Solsidan runs a two-car train.

Operation

The range of Saltsjöbana is single track. The depot is located at Neglinge station on the branch after Saltsjöbaden. The endpoint Slussen in Stockholm is a single-track terminus. The southern terminus Saltsjöbaden is a twin-track station with two outside platforms.

Noteworthy is the operations management in the junction station Igelboda. In this two-track station with a central platform there are daytime half-hourly Correspondence holding. The trains of the main line Slussen Saltsjöbaden intersect here and the shuttle Igelboda - Solsidan shall connect to and from the two trains of this line. Operationally, this is realized so that the train Saltsjöbaden - Slussen enters on track 1. After the entrance of the shuttle train on track 2 of the train Slussen Saltsjöbaden receives entrance to this track. Both trains then face each other in the same track. After the passenger change the two trains to Solsidan and Saltsjöbaden of succession.
