The Samarinda International Airport (Persian فرودگاه سیرینگ ) is the largest Samarindas airport and the largest cargo airport in the Indonesian province of Kalimantan Timur. He is also known as Sungai Siring airport, to distinguish it from its predecessor airport SRI. The Samarindaer Airport is the home base of the airline Kaltim Airlines.

Construction phase

The old SRI airport was overloaded and the residents complained about the noise. So it was decided to build a new airport.

Construction began in 2005, the final completion is scheduled for July 2014. The work proceeded without any major incidents. Construction costs totaled approximately 292 million U.S. dollars.

Terminal

The Samarinda International Airport has one terminal. Terminal 1 has a Levels: Level 2 is located on the Departures Hall on the ground floor the arrival hall.

The 16 check- in counters enable fast passenger handling. The passenger terminal with its 4 gates is covered by a roof of curved aluminum.

The main destinations are Bali, Banjarmasin, Berau, Datadawai, Jakarta, Long Apung, Makassar, Malinau, Melak, Palangkaraya, Pontianak, Surabaya, Tanjung Selor, and Tarakan Tawau. At Samarinda airport will take place just 76 aircraft movements a day.
