Samnaun

Samnaun (Romansh Samagnun? / I or Samignun? / I ) is a municipality in the district of Ramosch, District Inn, on the eastern edge of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. The municipality consists of the five fractions Compaccio, Laret, plan, and Ravaisch Samnaun. Samnaun is Swiss duty-free area.

Languages

The special topographical location and relationship to the neighboring Tyrol led in the 18th and 19th centuries to the fact that the Samnaun residents abandoned their former ancestral bündner Romanesque native language Vallader.
