Samuel Franklin Cody

Samuel Franklin Cody Samuel Franklin Cowdery but probably ( born March 6, 1867 in Davenport, Iowa; † August 7, 1913 on Laffan 's Plain, Aldershot, southern England, in a plane crash ) erroneously known as and confused with Buffalo Bill, was a famous American Wild West show performer and English aviation pioneer.

Samuel Franklin Cody, who was probably born as Samuel Franklin Cowdery, began his career as a gold prospector, cowboy and horse trainer. Cody had already earn money at a young age, as his father was in jail and could not support the family. As a result, he seems to have never attended school and was also illiterate. 1880, at the age of 19 he married in Pennsylvania, the Wild West Show- Actress Maud Marie Lee, with whom he performed together in the Forepaugh Wild West Show. At that time, he took the surname Cody, Buffalo Bill in his image.
