Samuel Sachs

Samuel Sachs ( born July 28, 1851 in Maryland, † March 2, 1935 ) was a German - American investment banker.

Life

Samuel Sachs was the son of boarding conductor Joseph Sachs, a Jewish immigrant from the Lower Franconian Rödelmaier, and his wife Sophia Bär, daughter of a wealthy Würzburg goldsmith. Together with his longtime friend Philip Lehman of Lehman Brothers, he introduced the issue of shares for newly established companies so that they had a way to get money.

Sachs married Louisa, youngest daughter of Marcus Goldman, who also came from Lower Franconia and was a friend of his father. In 1882, Sachs joined the firm of his father, who renamed it then in M. Goldman Sachs. Sachs went into retirement in 1928 and died in 1935.
