Samvel Danielyan

Samwel Vladimirovich Danieljan (Russian Самвел Владимирович Даниелян, Armenian Սամվել Դանիելյան; born February 4, 1971) is a former Soviet and Russian wrestler of Armenian origin. He was 1995 World Champion in Greco-Roman Flyweight

Career

Samwel Danieljan was a member of the Soviet and Russian armed forces and a member of the Sport Club of the Army SKA Rostov-on- Don, where he was trained by Piotr Tschinibalanz. He began as a teenager in 1980 with the rings. He focused entirely on the Greco- Roman style. As an adult, he wrestled at a size of 1.65 meters always flyweight (then 52 kg and 54 kg body weight).

The most successful Samwel Danieljan was during his youth time. Between 1987 and 1991 he fought his case in the different age classes ( Juniors and espoir ) a total of five international titles (2 x World Champion and 3 x European Champion ).

As a senior, he was among this age group from 1992, he had in his weight class, of course, to do it in Russia with a strong competition. He had therefore no permanent regular place in the international championships, but a few times but was used and represented Russia even in 1996 at the Olympic Games in Atlanta.

In 1993 he was at the European Championships in Istanbul his debut at an international championship in the seniors. He came here flyweight behind Natig Aiwasow from Azerbaijan and Andrij Kalaschnykow from Ukraine to 3rd place. After that, he only came back at the European Championships in 1995 in Besancon used. In Besancon he missed flyweight with a 4th place behind poor Nasarjan from Armenia, Alfred Ter - Mkrtchyan in Germany (both Armenians like him) and Andrij Kalaschnykow just a medal. At the 1996 European Championships in Budapest he disappointed as the reigning world champion, because he was only on the 7th place there. But he was still employed at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. There, he won the flyweight about shame Eddin Chudaiberdijew from Uzbekistan and Dariusz Jabłoński from Poland, but was defeated in his third fight his old rival arms Nasarjan, more victories over Nurum Dusenow from Kazakhstan and Lazaro Rivas Scull from Cuba brought him to an Olympic bronze medal in the fight he, however, losing to Andriy Kalaschnykow. He stood there in great shape before and was with wins over Sergei Sobokar, Ukraine, Vahan Juharjan, Armenia, Robert Sollie, Norway, Simeon Milew, Bulgaria and Dariusz Jabłoński European champions. This was his last start on the international wrestling mat.
