Samyr Laine

Samyr Laine ( born July 17, 1984 in Newburgh, New York) is a Haitian Triple Jumper.

Life

He studied until 2006 at the prestigious Harvard University law and during this time was a roommate of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Today (July 2012) holds Laine in his discipline, the university records in the open ( 16.34 m) and in the hall ( 15.83 m). He then moved to the Graduate School of the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a master's degree in kinesiology and sports management, and finally completed by 2010, a three -year course at Georgetown University Law Center. In addition, he worked during the summer months at Shearman & Sterling.

While studying at Georgetown, he was trained by a free minor league baseball coach. In 2007 he represented Haiti, the homeland of his parents, at the Pan American Games in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro, but could only occupy tenth place there. This was followed by appearances at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin with a 29 and at the World Indoor Championships in Doha in 2010 with a 16th place. The 2011 World Championships ended Laine in 19th place. Much better, he presented himself at his second Pan American Games, 2011 in Guadalajara: He was fifth. Just over four months later, however, he had to make do at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul in 2012 with the 13th and thus ranked last.

Nevertheless, Laine has made some sporting success. So he was able to secure the bronze medal at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rican Mayagüez and a year later superior ( to the European Championships, the equivalent ) at the same place at the Central American and Caribbean Championships - 87 centimeters tab - win the title. He also qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. There he finished in eleventh place.
