The Laguna San Pedro is located at a distance of 21 kilometers to the west of Río Iténez, border to Brazil, in the nature reserve Reserva Forestal Iténez. The lake lies at an altitude of 140 m and extends in length to 6.3 kilometers in width up to 4.4 km. Its area is 22 square kilometers and the perimeter of the lake is 17.3 kilometers. Administratively, the lake belongs to the province Iténez and located in the northeastern part of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Baures.

Geography

The Laguna San Pedro is located in the Bolivian lowlands, the climate is characterized by a typical for the tropics balanced temperature curve with only minor fluctuations.

The annual mean temperature is close to 27 ° C, the monthly values ​​vary between 25 ° C in June / July and 28 ° C in the month of October ( see climate chart Magdalena ). The annual rainfall is over 1,400 mm, with a clear moisture from November to March and a dry season during the months of June to August.

The region has only a minor settlement. Nearest city is the central location in the southwest of Magdalena in an air -line distance of 120 kilometers, with 4,758 inhabitants ( update 2012).
