San Vicente Department

San Vicente is one of 14 departments in El Salvador and is located in the central area of the country with a narrow access to the Pacific.

The capital of the department is the city of San Vicente (official name San Vicente de Austria y Lorenzana).

The department was founded on 12 June 1824.

In San Vicente is also the 2,182 meter high volcano of San Vicente ( other name: Chichontepec ).
