Sanchong District

Sanchong (Chinese三重 区, pinyin Sanchong Qū, PEH oē - jī Sa ⁿ - teng -po • / Sam Tiong ) is a district of the city of New Taipei City in northern Taiwan, Republic of China. With a population of 389 805 people (Nov 2013) in an area of ​​only 16:32 km ² the population density of the district is among the highest throughout Taiwan. Before incorporation into the city of New Taipei Sanchong was an independent city in the former Taipei County.

Location

History

The original name of the place, Sa ⁿ - teng -po • (三重written埔) comes from the Minnan language of Chinese immigrants who settled in the area of present-day Taipei metropolitan area in the 18th and 19th centuries, and means " third level".
