Sándor Jemnitz

Sándor Jemnitz [ ʃa ː ndor jɛmnits ] ( born August 9, 1890 in Budapest, † August 8, 1963 in Balatonföldvár ) was a Hungarian conductor, musician and composer.

Life

From 1906 to 1908 Jemnitz completed a study of composition at the Music Academy in Budapest. This was followed by studies at the Musikhochschule in Leipzig, where he was a pupil of Max Reger (composition), Arthur Nikisch (conducting ), Karl Straube (organ ) and Hans Sitt (violin).

From 1911 to 1913 he was conductor at smaller opera houses. From 1913 to 1915 Jemnitz was in Berlin student of Arnold Schoenberg at the Stern Conservatory. He also worked as a music writer ( various articles in "Music " ) and as a music critic.

He composed a concerto for chamber orchestra, a Concerto for String Orchestra, an orchestra overture, prelude and fugue and Seven Miniatures for orchestra, chamber music, three violin, three organ and five piano sonatas, more piano and organ pieces, choral music and songs.
