Sandra Glover

Sandra Glover ( Danice Sandra Glover, nee Cummings, born December 30, 1968 in Palestine, Texas ) is a former American hurdler.

The specialist in the 400 - meter hurdles trying to qualify for major international competitions since 1992. She succeeded then for the first time in 1999, when she became U.S. champion in the 400m hurdles. At the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville they finished fifth. From this season they remained until 2003, the best hurdler in the USA. At the Olympic game in Sydney in 2000 they finished sixth at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton Fifth.

In June 2003, the illicit doping agent modafinil has been found in Glover and was cautioned. Shortly thereafter, she won the silver medal at the World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis. After they could not qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, this seemed to be the end of her career. In 2005, however, came third in the U.S. championships back brilliantly and the final of the IAAF World Championships in Helsinki in 2005, the 36 -year-old runner was then again a new personal best with 53.32 s, winning the bronze medal.
