Sandy Nelson

Sandy Nelson ( born December 1, 1938 in Santa Monica, California; actually Sander L. Nelson) is an American drummer. Between 1959 and 1964 he had nine instrumental tracks drums in the U.S. charts. His title Let There Be Drums reached number one on the 1962 Australian singles chart and number 3 in the UK. It belonged from 1999 to the live repertoire of the band Queen.

Life

Nelson attended the same high school, such as Jan Berry and Dean Torrence (Jan and Dean ), and Kim Fowley. After his graduation, he played in the band Renegades, consisting of Richard Podolor, Bruce Johnston and Nick Venet. He also worked as a studio musician, including in 1958 for Phil Spector to To Know Him Is to Love Him by Teddy Bears, 1960 on the number -one hit Alley - Oop of the Hollywood -produced by Kim Fowley Argyle and on various recordings by Gene Vincent.

1959 rose his first single Teen Beat, on which he was accompanied among others by surf music guitarist Richie Allen, to position four on the Billboard charts.
