The Tetouan airport Sania Ramel ( IATA code TTU, ICAO code GMTN ) is named after Sania Ramel Airport, the Moroccan city of Tetouan. It is located approximately 60 kilometers southeast of Tangier and about 40 kilometers south of Ceuta. It is geographically one of the smallest of Morocco and is located on the outskirts of town.
From German-speaking countries there are no direct connections. Seasonal Jetairfly flies via Liège to Tetouan. Others offer seasonal flights XL Airways, Europe Airpost and Transavia several times a week via Paris and, from the March 5, 2013 Corendon Airlines non-stop from Amsterdam.
Airport Location
The airport of Tetouan is in each well 6 km northeast of Tetouan and southeast of the small town Martil the Mediterranean.
History
In Spanish Morocco began on 17 July 1936, the military coup to overthrow the Spanish government, the military air base Sania Ramel were loyal to the Spanish government. After taking the airport the coup liquidated the command Exalted Major Ricardo de la Puente Bahamonde with other Republicans.
