Šarišský Štiavnik

Šarišský Štiavnik ( until 1946 slovak " Štavník " - to 1927 " Ščavník " or " Štiavnik "; Hungarian Sósfüred ) is a municipality in the north-eastern Slovakia with 295 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), which in Okres Svidník, a circle of Prešov kraj is located and is counted to the traditional landscape Saris.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Low Beskid in the upper valley of the brook Radomka. The center is located at an altitude of 229 m nm and is 15 kilometers from Svidník and 44 km from Prešov away.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1414 and belonged to the dominion of Makovica ( seat Castle Zborov ). The name comes from the local mineral springs, the ščavica is called locally, back, and is illustrated on the emblem. The village, however, was abandoned by the end of the 15th century and the successor is in a source from 1559 still listed as " new". 1588 a tax of 1 ¼ Porta was due. 1828 are 40 houses and 307 inhabitants recorded, which were mainly engaged in agriculture, forestry and charcoal burning. The resort was built in the 18th century and was active until 1999 in various forms.
