Saronic Islands

As Saronic Islands (Greek Νησιά του Αργοσαρωνικού, NISIA tou Argosaronikoú, also: Saronen ) is a group of seven major ( and many smaller ) islands called that lie in the Saronic Gulf of the Aegean Sea and south before the Argolis Peninsula. The Saronic islands are very popular with Greek tourists. They belong to the Prefecture of Piraeus district and thus to the Greek region of Attica. The Greek term, Argosaronische islands ' also includes some other small uninhabited islands in the Gulf of Argolis, which belong politically to the Peloponnese region. The Saronic islands, the Saronic Gulf got its name from the mythical king Saron who should be drowned while psifäischen lake in prehistoric times for hunting.

The inhabited islands are accessible by ferry directly from Piraeus. On all islands, there are places to stay.
