Å arovce

Šarovce (Hungarian Barssáró or SARO ) is a municipality in the south of Slovakia with 1658 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Levice within the Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Danube hills (part of the Slovak Danube lowland ) on the right bank of the river Hron. The center is located at an altitude of 146 m nm and is located seven kilometers from Želiezovce and 20 km from Levice.

Administratively located Šarovce integrated into the community and parts Šarovce Vesela.

History

Today's church was built in 1943 by the merger of places Malé Šarovce (Hungarian Kissáró ) and Veľké Šarovce (Hungarian Nagysáró ). 1958 came to the place Veselé (Hungarian Veszele ), which was previously part of the community Turá.

The town was first mentioned in 1075 as Saroufalu writing ( other sources speak only of 1245 ).

Until 1918/1919 the place belonged to the county bars the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Award 1938-45 he was lying again in Hungary.

  • Classicist Church of the Guardian Angels in 1847, built on the site of a Gothic church from the 13th century
  • Classical Calvinist church of 1780, built after the Edict of Toleration, the first tower completed in 1899
