Sasca Montană

Sasca Montană ( German German Saska, montan Saska, Hungarian Szászkabánya ) is a municipality in the district of Caras -Severin, Banat, Romania. At the community Sasca Montană includes the villages Bogodinţ, Potoc, Sasca Română and Slatina - Nera.

Geographical Location

Sasca Montană is located in the Banat Mountains, southwest of the circle Caras -Severin. The place is surrounded by the Locva Mountains to the west, the Almaj Mountains in the southwest and the Anina Mountains to the northeast. Sasca Montană is around 17 kilometers from the national road (Romanian: Drumul Naţional ) DN 57 It is 30 kilometers from the city Oraviţa and 100 kilometers from the district capital Resita. History

The earliest traces of human life on the territory of today Sasca Montană originate from the Neolithic period. Pottery and a sword of bronze prove the Cotofeni and the Hallstatt culture. First mining tracks come from the Roman period.
