Satanic Rites is the third demo recording of the Swiss extreme metal band Hellhammer. It was from 2 to 4 December 1983 at Sound Concept recorded the studio, produced by the band itself and in the same year of Prowlin ' Death Records published in an edition of 200 copies.

On Satanic Rites shows an audible improvement over the previous demo recordings, which already tends frost towards the first shots of the successor Celtic.

Importance

Satanic Rites among the publications of the extreme metal underground. Metalion, editor of Slayer fanzine, came at the age of 16 years with the inclusion in touch and see them as still the best publication in the extreme metal to. Frank Stoever, editor of Voices from the Darkside, pushed by Satanic Rites on the underground scene and recommended in 1993 in his fanzine, the acquisition of bootleg re-release. Songs like Revelations of Doom, Satanic Rites and Triumph of Death are deemed " groundbreaking classic of very early Black Metal ."
