The band already founded in 1992 and released the album Snuff the Punk (1994) and Brown ( 1996). However, these were not sold through a major label. Since the two albums which have sold over 40,000, however, managed POD, to attract the attention of such a record company, and were taken to Atlantic Records. Your major Dabüt The Fundamental Elements of Southtown went to number 51 on the Billboard 200

Only with Satelite, however, the band succeeded in the course of the commercially successful Nu Metal wave, the beginning of the new millennium, the international breakthrough. It was recorded in early 2001 and produced by Howard Benson, who was a producer for albums by Motorhead and Sepultura and was also required for the previous album. It was released in the U.S. on September 11, 2001, the day of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. In Germany, the album was released in February 2002. Nevertheless, the Singles Alive and Youth of the Nation had been successfully placed in the charts. Thus, the release date in Europe has already been brought forward by two weeks. A club tour in Germany was before the actual release sold out. It also followed by appearances at the German festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. Besides Alive and Youth of the Nation followed boom and the title track as a third or fourth single, to which all music videos were filmed.

Reception

In the U.S., the album was given until August 26, 2002, a triple platinum award. More awards for music sales got Satellite in Canada (Platinum), as well as Australia and Germany (both gold). In addition, the group was nominated for several international music awards, such as the Echo Award POD 2003 in category Artists / artist / group won International alternative rock. The group was already in 2002 six times for an MTV Video Music Award for Best Video of the Year, Best Group Video, Best Direction, Best Special Effects, and Viewer 's Choice for the single Alive and in the Best Rock division video for the video for Youth of the Nation nominated. Ultimately, however, the band went away empty-handed. Also at the 44th Grammys 2002, the band alive against the competition could not say. The price for the Best Hard Rock Performance went to Linkin Park for the song crawling. One year later, the band ( Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Metal Performance in turn ) for the songs Youth of the Nation or portrait was nominated in two categories, but the price lost to the Foo Fighters for All My Life and grain for Here to Stay.

Marcus Schleutermann by the German magazine Rock Hard spoke of a nu-metal milestone, the true, ' stupid Prollerei the brand Fred Durst & Co. stands out. " He especially praised the guitar work of Marcos Curiel, who "works with melancholy, under the skin licks and only occasionally unpacks the reef - ax. " The album has been classified in the category of " dynamite " and got a final score of nine out of ten possible points.

Michael Edele of Laut.de was of the view that one should recommend the album to anyone who "by Fred Durst and his nose has fully selbige ". He was convinced of the collaborations with POD 's idols, that could have been " a mess " pretty cool reggae sounds. Also, the whole thing would never " put " sound " and sent mixed at any time with the harder tones. " He pushed especially the song Without Jah, Nothin in the foreground. As a stopgap, he described the songs and Celestial Guitarras De Amor forgave inferentially four out of five stars.

Dani Schmötzer ruled by the e- magazine Powermetal.de that a " happy medium " would by the alternation of " thrashing " and " peaceful melodies " arise and not just " appeals to the Harten the people " (? ). Although the band would become dignified compared to the harder predecessor The Fundamental Elements Of Southdown however, that would not mean that the album would be bad: " In any case, they deliver with this disc a really good piece of work from that can make damn fun. "

More critical commented Stefan Popp of Metal1.Info. Although the band as believing Christians have indeed a different image, but could songs like the opener Set It Off can be from any nu-metal band. It also bothered him that singer Sonny Sandoval would make too many Rap parts. So be just a good track on the album with Alive. In the rest of the material would only be copied itself, which would " either slow and boring or pseudo heavy and annoying " sound. He forgave only 3.5 out of a possible ten points.
