The Sawala (Russian Савала ) is a right tributary of Chopjor in the Russian oblasts Tambov and Voronezh.

The Sawala has its origins in the Oka - Don plain in the Tambov Oblast. It flows in a southerly direction predominantly in the Voronezh Oblast. The Sawala passes through the small town Scherdewka. It leads after 285 km south of Nowochopjorsk right side in the Chopjor. The catchment area covers 7720 km ². The river is mainly fed by snowmelt. In April, the Sawala holds every year flood. The mean discharge ( MQ ) at the mouth is 20 m³ / s Between the end of November and the end of March the river is covered with ice. The most important tributary of the Sawala is the Jelan.
