Savenay
Savenay is a commune with 7790 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Loire -Atlantique in the Pays de la Loire. It belongs to the district of Saint- Nazaire and Canton Savenay.
Geography
Savenay is located on the hills Sillon de Bretagne. Its environment, however, dates back to the swamps on the banks of the Loire.
Neighboring municipalities are: Campbon, La Chapelle -Launay, Lavau -sur -Loire, Bouée, Malville and Bouvron.
History
The first mention Savenays dates from the year 848 and is located in the cartulary of Redon; at that time the place was called Condita Savannacum. In the 13th century Savenay is the fief of La Roche -Bernard slammed. 1435 sold the debt Gilles de Rais the place to Guillemette, widow of Guillaume le Ferron, 1467 buys him Jean de Laval, Baron de la Roche Bernard. From 1547 until the Revolution Savenay belongs to the Vice- county Donges. 1800 is Savenay sub-prefecture, loses the status but in 1868 at Saint- Nazaire.

The train station of Savenay is on the main line SNCF of Gare Montparnasse in Paris to Saint- Nazaire.
