Scala & Kolacny Brothers

Scala & Kolacny Brothers is a girls' choir from Aarschot in Belgium, which consists of about 60 members, girls and young women aged 14 to 24 years. It is managed by brothers Stijn and Steven Kolacny. The choir was especially known by adaptations of well-known pieces of pop and rock music. The performances about 30 to 40 of the girls and the two brothers are usually present.

History

Scala was founded in 1996. With just 18 members, the first rehearsal took place on 2 April 1996. First, the current conducted by the two pianists Kolacny Brothers choir was active in the classical music field. After appearances at choir festivals and competitions was Scala in Belgium " Choir of the Year 1999-2000 ".

With the published on 1 December 2002 album On the Rocks, the choir began to interpret various well-known pop and rock songs. The arrangements of pieces for choir with piano and percussion accompaniment submitted by Steven Kolacny. The album was very successful and was played mainly by Flemish broadcasters often.

The choir enters today on a regular basis in different countries. In the second half of 2004 alone, there were in Germany eight appearances. On stage Steven Kolacny piano and plays Stijn conducts the choir. Scala began when German radio stations Fritz, 1 live and Delta radio radio concerts. The brothers Kolacny also occur as a piano duo without the choir.

In September 2008, appeared with the album Paper Plane the first one that does not contain any cover versions, but only their own songs by Steven Kolacny. In the same year the album Dans les yeux d' Aurore was published. It mostly includes cover versions of the late 2002 Belgian singer Pierre Rapsat.

Since 2009 Scala's cover of MIA song Hungry Heart is used for a television advert for the local cooperative banks. On June 5, 2010 Scala occurred at the final concert of Sing - Day of Song in the Veltins - Arena in Gelsenkirchen in the context of RUHR.2010 project - Cultural Capital of Europe. A trailer for the Hollywood film The Social Network by David Fincher was released on July 15, 2010, which is lined with Scala's cover of Radiohead's song Creep.
