Sceptic (band)

Sceptic is a Polish technical death metal band from Krakow, which was founded in 1994 under the name Tormentor.

History

The band was founded in 1994 by Maciej Zięba (drums), Dariusz " Yanuary " Styczeń ( electric guitar ) and Jacek Hiro ( guitar ) under the name Tormentor. The singer was missing with Arek Stawiarski found in the following year and the name was changed to Sceptic. In addition, Jacek Mrozek replaced the guitarist Dariusz Styczeń. In 1996 they recorded their first demo called Demo 96. The next demo was followed by Beyond Reality in 1997 after bassist Paweł Kolasa ( Athropia Red Sun ) joined the band. In 1998, the line-up changed again strong. It now consisted of Jacek Hiro ( guitar ), Cuba Kogut (drums), Marcin Urbaś (vocals) and Paweł Kolasa ( electric bass). Together they recorded the demo Promo 98 and led to a contract with Massive Management.

In January 1999 the band recorded their debut album Blind Existence, on which the new second guitarist Czesiek Semla was heard. There were a few concerts like the Thrash'em All Festival '99 and the Mystic Festival '99. The album was released in November 1999 on Mystic Production. The band increased its notoriety both by the release of the album, on the other hand by the fact that Marcin Urbaś was a very successful sprinters. So he keeps the Polish record in 200 -meter run.

In February 2000, the line-up changed again. Drummer Maciej Zięba returned to the band, Marcin Urbaś left the band and was replaced by Michał Senajko. Sceptic wrote new material and entered All Festival 2000 on various concerts such as the Thrash'em on. On September 15, they entered the studio Selani to record their second album called Lost Identity. It was produced by Szymon Czech. The album contained the song Arctic Crypt, which was originally written by the band Nocturnus. A music video for the song Pathetic Being was produced. Thereafter, the name of the album in Pathetic Being was changed. The cover was by Jacek Wisniewski ( Vader, Decapitated, Dies Irae, Hades ) designed. After the recordings Michał Senajko left the band and was replaced by Michał Skotniczny ( Crionics ).

In January 2001, the band signed a contract with Empire Records and that same year released the album Pathetic Being. That same year, the live album Live Lost Indentity on Mystic Production has been published.

In 2003 and 2005, were released two more albums with Unbeliever 's Script ( Candlelight Records ) and Internal Complexity ( Mystic Production).

Style

The band plays a version of the Technical Death Metal, which is comparable to the works of progressive death metal band Cynic. The song is reminiscent of the Kelly Shaefer ( Atheist ).
