Schoolly D

Schoolly D ( * 1962; actually Jesse B. Weaver) is an American hip hop MC from Philadelphia, who has been active since the mid-1980s and is regarded as one of the co-inventor of the so-called gangsta rap.

Schoolly D started rapping in 1979. Significant influences were at the beginning of Grandmaster Flash and the Funky Four. On his first records in the 1980s, he collaborated with DJ Code Money. Her pieces were characterized by electronic, economical hardcore beats that were alienated by the extreme electronic reverb and echo spaces. With the rapidly emerging sampling the sound to the popular hip-hop around 1988 to fit. Later it came to working with KRS One, which Schoolly D was political and approached the Black Consciousness Movement.
