Scilla morrisii

Scilla morrisii is a species of the genus of blue stars ( Scilla ) in the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ).

Features

Scilla morrisii is a perennial herbaceous plant. This Geophyt forms an onion as Überdauerungsorgan. The three to six thick, straight leaves are up to 70 centimeters long and 0.5 to 1.5 inches wide.

The inflorescence stem carries an inflorescence of one to four flowers. The flowers are star-shaped, small and purple to blue with a milky white. The flowering period extends from March to April.

Occurrence

Scilla morrisii is endemic in the North West of Cyprus. This species grows at altitudes from 250 to 900 meters in moist, shaded columns and shores. She is often in closed subsp old stands of oak as Quercus infectoria. find veneris and shrubs such as turpentine Pistachio.

Endangering

The IUCN classifies the species as threatened with extinction ( " critically endangered " ), because the distribution is highly fragmented and very small, continues to shrink and there are only less than 600 individuals.
