Sean Rooney ( * March 1, 1989 in Blacktown ) is an Australian football player.

Career

Rooney was born in 1989 in the Australian Blacktown, the son of an Irishman and an Italian mother. 16 -year-old he made his debut in the adult range for the Blacktown City Demons in the NSW Premier League after he decided against a scholarship at the NSW Institute of Sport, in order to play regularly in league play, to register for the Professional League A -League to recommend. In May 2007, the Australian branch of the football magazine FourFourTwo Rooney took her in his list of the ten best players of Australia out of the A-League.

In summer 2008, the striker signed a contract with Sydney FC for the youth team in the National Youth League newly established. After eight missions he led the scorers of the Youth League with nine goals, the end of 2008 offered him the League rival Newcastle United Jets a contract for the professional team to replace injured striker Jason Naidovski. Rooney accepted the offer and announced on December 14 against Queensland Roar his professional debut.

His first competitive goal for the Jets, he scored in May 2009 in the AFC Champions League. With its 2-1 victory in the final minute of stoppage time against Beijing Guoan the Jets ultimately the catchment succeeded the last sixteen. A month later, he signed a new two -year contract at Newcastle.
