Sebastiano Mazzoni

Sebastiano Mazzoni (* 1611 in Florence, † April 22, 1678 in Venice) was an Italian painter of the Baroque.

Baccio del Bianco He went on in Florence in the doctrine and was there from 1638 member of the Accademia del Disegno. Mazzoni came to Venice in 1648, where he remained for the rest of his life. After Temanza ( Zibaldone ) he fled from Florence, as he had written satires about an upstanding person. In Venice he was influenced by the works of Bernardo Strozzi and other Venetian painters, resulting in a more fluid style of painting.

He had a very unique style that partially covered the satirical baroque imagery to the grotesque. The later brought him also disadvantages in Venice (where you contemporary painters like Pietro della Vecchia and Francesco Maffei, despite similar fantastic trains more appreciated ).

Mazzoni was also a poet ( as he describes himself in a poem in 1661 as a poet, painter, and two-time madman ). From it there are also many architectural drawings of buildings in Venice.

His pupils included Andrea Celesti and Sebastiano Ricci.
