Do ( province):

The Expressway 110 ( Kor. 제 2 경인 고속도로, The I Gyeongin Gosok Doro ) is an expressway in South Korea. The highway is one of the three east-west highways between Incheon and Seoul. The 110 Expressway begins at Incheon airport and then continue on to Seoul Incheon. The highway is 50 kilometers long.

Street Description

The highway begins on the island of Yeongjong, an island off the coast of South Korea in the Yellow Sea, where is the Incheon International Airport, the largest airport in Seoul. The highway begins at an intersection with the Expressway 130, which forms a northern route between the airport and Seoul. Traffic in downtown Seoul via the Expressway 130 over the 12 km long Incheon Bridge carries the highway across the sea to the mainland. This bridge has 2x3 lanes. The highway leads then to New Songdo City, a planned city in Incheon. The highway then runs south along the city of Incheon and crosses the Expressway 50, which comes from the center of Incheon, and then runs along the east coast towards the south. After about 10 kilometers of the expressway is 100 crosses. After crossing the Expressway 15, the highway ends at the southern edge of Seoul.

History

On 6 July 1994, the eastern section between Incheon and Seoul opened on the mainland. The western part, between Incheon and the 100 Expressway, was originally a part of the Expressway 15, but in 2001 was re-numbered as 100 Expressway. The Incheon Bridge was opened on 16 October 2009 to allow a car to Incheon airport.

Future

There are plans to extend the Expressway 110 east to the 100 Expressway in Seongnam, so that a second east- west connection in the south of Seoul would arise. This extension will be 21.7 km long, so that the total length of the Expressway 110 would rise to 73 km. However, there are still no specific timetable.

Traffic

In 2010, the traffic was at the airport at 27,000 vehicles per day, between Incheon and the Expressway 100 at 93,000 vehicles per day, and between the 100 Expressway and Seoul at 90,000 vehicles per day.
